JUDGES

For all Finals Competition, Best Dancer Competition and Dance-Offs, there will now be 50% DanceOne judges and 50% “outside” judges (professionals with no full-time ties to DanceOne).

NEW COMPETITION CATEGORY

ACRO category has been added to our competition.

BEST DANCER

The Solo Score for the Top 3 in the Best Dancer Dance-Off will now replace the original solo score. The solos in the Best Dancer Dance-Off will no longer be ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd. With this change, all of the other scores will factor in to the final ranking (Solo Score, Audition Score & Dance-Off Score).

STUDIO OF THE YEAR

Due to the current dance season being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and not all studios being allowed to open equally, this year's Studio of The Year competition will be slightly different. The Top 10 Studios (normally Top 5) will move on and compete in the Studio of the Year Dance-Off. During the closing Awards Show, the Top 5 from the Dance-Off will be announced and each will receive a $10,000 competition voucher towards the 2023 Dance Awards. Top 10s will receive a $5,000 competition voucher towards the 2023 Dance Awards. There will be no official "Winner" in 2021, just a Top 5 and Top 10. Each participating studio will receive custom framed award for your studio. As always, it is free to enter the Studio Of The Year Competition.

VIRTUAL

We will now be offering a virtual option for the Workshop and Finals Competition. Please note - All Best Dancers must attend the workshop and compete In-Person.

Virtual routines will only compete against Virtual routines and not against the In-Person Routines. We will be awarding adjudicated and high score awards for the Virtual Competition.

PRE-QUALIFYING

Due to the current dance season being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, routines will NOT need to pre-qualify for the Finals Competition at The Dance Awards 2021. (Please Note - Best Dancers will still need to qualify (In-Person or Virtual) at a regional event. See Best Dancer page for more info.)
