The Studio of the Year Award is given to a studio that demonstrates excellence in dance education throughout a variety of dance styles and age divisions.

Best Performance Awards

The top FIVE overall high scores out of all the Group, Line, Extended Line and Production divisions from each of the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions are eligible for the Best Performance Award.

Specialty Awards

$9,000 IN PRIZES!

Outstanding Technical Achievement

Each studio will need to fill out a Specialty Nomination Form, listing one routine (in any style) from each age division that they would like to be considered for Outstanding Technical Achievement. This routine must be a Group, Line, Extended Line or Production and it will compete during the regular Finals Competition. The Dance Awards Judging Committee will select the routine that they feel best demonstrates excellence in dance technique. The winning Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Most Professional Studio

Throughout the week of events, each registered Studio Owner (competing at least 20 groups) will have the opportunity to vote for another studio that they feel exhibits the most overall respect, class, sportsmanship and professionalism. The winning Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Best Choreographer

Each studio will need to fill out a Studio Nomination Form, listing which routines from the Teen/Senior and Mini/Junior (Groups, Lines, Extended Lines and Productions only) that they would like to be considered for Best Choreographer. These routines will compete during the regular Finals Competition. Please note: The nominated choreographer must be a full time (weekly) staff member at the studio. They may NOT be a guest artist or someone who does not teach regular weekly classes. The Dance Awards’ Judging Committee will select the one overall winner that they feel best demonstrates excellence in choreography. The winning Choreographer and/or Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

The Best Choreographer (Teen & Senior Division) also becomes an automatic Finalist for the 2019 Capezio A.C.E. Award Competition. For more info on this prestigious award, please click here.

Best Performance by Performance Division

The highest scoring routine of each performance division in the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age division, is automatically nominated for Best Performance by Performance Division at The Dance Awards Show. The Dance Awards’ Judging Committee will then select the one overall winner that demonstrates the Best Performance by Performance Division for their age. The winning Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Best Production Performance

The highest scoring Production from the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions, will automatically be nominated for Best Production Performance at The Dance Awards Show. The Dance Awards’ Judging Committee will then select the one overall winner that demonstrates the Best Production Performance for their age. The winning Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design

Each studio will need to fill out a Studio Nomination Form, listing which ONE routine (Groups, Lines, Extended Lines and Productions only) that they would like to be considered for Best Costume Design. These routines will compete during the regular Finals Competition. The Dance Awards’ Judging Committee will select the one overall winner that they feel best demonstrates excellence in Costume Design. The winning Designer and/or Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

People's Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award will be awarded to a studio’s routine whose video receives the most amount of online votes at www.thedanceawards.com. The voting period will start June 19th, and end July 6th (for Las Vegas) and end July 18th (for Orlando). The studio routine must be a Group, Line, Extended Line or Production. The winning Studio Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Best Dancer

All Top 10 Best Dancers (male and female) from each age division will be presented with an award onstage during The Dance Awards Show. The Top 3 dancers from each age division will then be announced, followed immediately by the announcement of the 2018 Best Dancer Winners and remaining Runners-Up. The Best Dancer Winners (male and female) from each age division will then be asked to re-perform their solo later in the show.
